We always welcome new singers.

A recent survey confirmed that singing is one of the best social and healthy activities in which you can participate.

If you enjoy - or would like to have a go at singing great choral music in a big choir, why not come and meet us in the main hall at Derby High School, Hillsway, Littleover (entrance from Burton Road) on Tuesdays from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
Try to arrive at your first evening at about 7.20pm, then we'd have time before the rehearsal starts to meet you, sort out copies of music and fill in a brief form.
The season starts each September and usually runs till April.  Occasionally, it is extended to June if an additional concert is scheduled, or if the choir is preparing for a tour abroad. Note that there is a requirement for attendance of at least two thirds of rehearsals if people wish to sing in the concert - although this is at the discretion of the MD.
If after a few rehearsals you'd like to join, then after a short voice test, we'd be delighted to welcome you into whichever section is best suited for your voice. There are usually vacancies in all voice ranges (soprano, alto, tenor and bass). All we ask is that you have a reasonable (but not necessarily trained) voice, with average sight-reading ability.

Voice test
Before formally joining the choir, we do ask you to take a short voice test to confirm that you can sing in tune and work from a choral score. This also enables you to be placed in the right voice section. This will be arranged with the Musical Director after you've attended a few rehearsals.
Subscriptions for 2008/2009
£85 per season (concessions £70), payable in September. Free for Choral Scholars.

Choral scholarships
These are available for young people 25 or under, subject to a satisfactory audition.  We cover the cost of membership fees, concert dress and hire of music whilst they sing with us.  Full details are available from Patricia Lunn by e-mailing Secretary.
